GURGAON: A group of MNC executives and IT professionals are taking part in a drive to plant saplings on the Sector 29 DLF Police Station premises to make it the first ‘green police station’ in the city. They now plan to con- tinue the drive in the rest of the 22 police stations as well.

The group got Banyan, Pipal and Neem saplings planted at the main lawn of the police station last week by the top brass of the Gurgaon Police department.

Most of these professionals spend their weekends taking part in such green drives.

Take the case of 30-year-old Ramesh Bhagsara, director with a Hong Kong-based multina- tional company, whose love for environment developed when he met Vivek Kamboj, a resi- dent of Sushant Lok who runs an NGO Hariyali. “I was impressed with the work Kamboj was doing and I joined him to contribute my bit. We have been maintaining the Sector 29 police station for the past year and have panted about 130 saplings. All of us meet at least twice a month for such drives,” said Bhagsara.

Kamboj said that all his friends contribute money for purchasing saplings.

Besides Bhagsara and Kamboj, there are others such as Chitra Kunwar (31), creative head of Kriti Solutions, and Sumeet Singh (27), who works with a software development company, who are actively tak- ing part in the initiative.
