Green Gurgaon can be a rality if | The flowing issues are taken care of in Gurgaon. Only then the environment will be taken care of, says Vivek Kamboj
Enhance green cover. Delhi has less space, but it is greener than Gurgaon one major reason is that the survival rate of trees in Gurgaon is lesser than the capital because of depleting ground water level among other reasons. The green cover is not evenly spread in the city. It is there in some pockets only.
The administration must ensure that all open spaces have a thick green cover, open spaces that have turned into parking lots or are encroached, must be developed as green belts with restrictions on human intervention. The hotels and offices have so much of space which can be utilized to grow thick trees.
Improve ground water level:
When the city was being developed initially, if the planners had made provisions for a canal to pass through the city, it would have taken care of the water needs of Gurgaon. Even now, the depleting ground water level can be restored by creating rainwater pits. So much of rain water goes waste standing on the roads making the traffic come to a standstill and also destroying the well-built roads. If artificial Water which will then recharge the ground water level.
Even if you invest in an earthquake resistant building, with no water under it, it is sure to come falling down in such an event. A good ground water level will act as a cushion to ensure the city doesn’t get affected by an earthquake. And, water harvesting must be made mandatory for all.
Take care of Aravalis: The supreme court of India has ordered that the Aravalis need to be saved. But then, the responsibility of the same needs to be fixed too. Somebody must be made accountable if the Aravlis are not in a good shape or if the illegal mining continues. Some catchments must be made in the part of the city too so that these can turn into green lungs for Gurgaon. The administration ought to instill the fear of law of the land to crack its whip on illegal activites here.
People contribution: There is a lot being said and done by people to discuss environment related issues. They are buying organic stuff, are blogging about the same, participating in activities that are eco-friendly. But, they need to make it a personal battle. Right form using cleaner fuels to using a bucket of water, to clean their car instead of a

I am not scared of dying. If I die, planet earth will benefit. But if a tree gets cut mother earth stands to lose a lot. “NO one else but only a true nature lover, an environmentalist can utter these words. And so the Millennium city into a green Gurgaon.
